How I Became The Better Me

I deleted my blog before, honestly it was because I felt under the pressure of Facebook, mobile banking etc etc.  The data age is catching up to me.  Several had asked where it went....I was told that my weight loss journal had inspired others.  So let me get back to the beginning. ,...

I started my New Life journey in July of 2010 when I decided I was too damn young to feel that damn old.  My knees were cracking, my head was full of headaches and I just felt I was aching my life away.  July 4th 2010 was when I decided I would call the weight loss surgeon and look into Bariatric Surgery.  I was not severely obese but I was overweight.  My medical conditions, for the most part, were controlled.  I was not high risk or even barely over the criteria.....but I did in fact meet that criteria.

I went to a seminar at the end of July to view my options and make the commitment to become a "better" me.  This seminar changed my life.  I met friendly amazing supportive people in a room full of strangers, this became my new family.  I was "fast tracked" into a quicker process since I had a full medical history of trying to lose on my own.   Little did I know that on 09/27/2010 I would make the best   step ever made and lay on that table that changed my life.

My new birthday is now 09/27/2010 I had Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy aka VSG with Dr Ahuja in Herrin at New Life Clinic.  I have since lost 74 pound since surgery and 104 total pre op and post op combined.  I am down from a BMI of 45.5 (Body mass index (BMI) is measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women) to a BMI of 27.6.

*Normal weight = 18.5-24.9  is where I need to be per my height ratio so this battle is not over by any means *

Thank you to all that have supported this journey and are continuing to support me.
